About Paul Tibbitt
Paul is an acclaimed American animator, television producer, and writer, best known for his massive creative contributions to the global hit series SpongeBob SquarePants. Tibbitt studied character animation at the prestigious California Institute of the Arts (CalArts) before launching his career in the late 1990s as a storyboard revisionist and artist for shows like 101 Dalmatians: The Series, Recess, and CatDog.
When SpongeBob SquarePants premiered in 1999, Tibbitt joined the crew as a writer and storyboard director, quickly becoming one of the show's most influential voices. In 2004, when series creator Stephen Hillenburg stepped down, Tibbitt was hand-picked to take over as the executive producer and showrunner. He guided the show's massive global success from Season 4 through Season 9.
Beyond writing and producing, Tibbitt frequently lent his voice to the show, playing characters like Potty the Parrot, DoodleBob, and Mama Krabs. In 2015, he made his feature film directorial debut with the box-office success The SpongeBob Movie: Sponge Out of Water. After his legendary run on the series, Tibbitt transitioned to developing new projects with DreamWorks Animation.
